Mother's Day

Well, it was officially my 2nd Mother's Day. John-Mark let me sleep in until 9:30!
I woke up to a very special piece of art taped to our wall. My artist husband and my artist daughter created something beautiful together. I love it.

What is Mother's Day anyways, and how is it that we celebrate just one day in honor of our Mothers? Is someone, or something (like the Hallmark store) telling us "It's time to celebrate your Mother, so go buy her some card and give her something she doesn't really need." When I think of my own mom, geeze, how can I ever express how much she means to me. Lord knows I couldn't ever repay her for all she's done.

As I think about this holiday, now that I am on the other end as a mom, I realize everyday is Mother's Day for me as I enjoy my precious daughter (who is crying in her crib at the moment because she doesn't want to sleep.)
It's Mother's Day  everyday because I get to see her sleepy little face every morning. It's Mother's Day everyday because I get to experience her communicating with me in real sentences with real thoughts. It's Mother's Day everyday because I get to listen to her thank Jesus for her lunch and her food and Papa and her baby doll, and her necklace....., It's Mother's Day everyday because I get to witness her say "Mommy, I love you so much". It's Mother's Day everyday because when I look at Gabriella I get tiny glimpses of how God must love us, His kids...
Happy Mother's Day to all who have moms and to all who are called mom.
