This is one of the art books used in Gabriella's class. A couple weeks back the girls had a lesson on drawing their own facial expressions. We studied Rembrandt and his work first...he did a lot of self portraits. JM specifically is trying to teach Gabriella to really see things as they are. She used a mirror (like Rembrandt did) to make expressions and then drew them. I love all her expressions, especially surprised!

These drawings are creative and expressive. How wonderful. Have you come across the book "Drawing with Children" by Mona Brookes. I have used this book to teach young children to draw for the past 9 years. It has a great method of teaching children to see things as they are.

Thanks Kim. Yes I have the book. It's great. Haven't dived into it yet. I think it's time. YOu recommended the book to me several years ago and I bought it then. Thank you!
