Last Saturday we celebrated Ansel's 1st B-day with family. We had a simple lunch, birthday cake and ice cream. It was a low key affair but a special time to celebrate our baby boy.
Found some berry bouquets at trader joe's that I thought would go well on the table. I love these berries. They were in most of the flowers arrangements at our wedding. Simple and colorful. Got some of my vintage blocks to spell out our boy's name.
That little red vintage truck was from when I was little...I think it was old then!
I love that Ansel's Birthday means that fall is here (my favorite season). Printed out some letters from a blog and made an easy little banner with card stock and twine.
Yes, his baby book is lavender and green, sorry son. Bought it before you were born....seeing that his gender was a surprise, it was the best option for a unisex baby book that I found and that had content I was looking for.
Can't go wrong with the pom pom flowers.
I did this for Gabriella and Jude as well. Everyone writes a message to the birthday boy, I hide the jar and pull it out years later for him to have...maybe on his sweet 16.
Birthday boy!

Staring up at the pom poms
Gabriella and Jude were such a big help to Ansel when opening his gifts.:)
Gabriella and Jude told me that they individually wanted to buy Ansel a special gift for him. Sissy and I went to Target where she spent her own money and bought him this O-ball, which he loved. Brother was insistent on getting him a sippy cup. He liked that too.
Who do you think bought him this. If your guess starts with a U and end with a Ronnie, then you're right.
Cake Time. Made the same vegan raw cakes that I made for JM's Bday. The recipe is from this book. The Best!! The cake is walnuts, dates and cocoa powder. The frosting is avocado, dates, cocoa powder and agave nectar. Simple,Yum, no oven required, just a good food processor and a pair of hands.
What's a party without a hat?!
First time eating cake and cocoa.
Loved it...especially with raspberries
Hey brother...can I get a bite of that?
Trying Coconut milk ice cream for the first time. Cried for more.
With Big Grandma and Omi
He kills me with that face!
I love love love my family.
No sense in wiping his face...we just stuck him in the bathtub.
Cleaned up for a picture with Grandpa.
With Little Grandma. She and Ansel are 91 years apart by the way.

Happy Birthday precious son. We love you so deeply and would not be who we are without you. God was so giving and gracious to us by allowing us to be your parents! He has used you..yes, your little 1 year old self, to teach us, bless us, challenge us, encourage us and point us to Jesus. Truly. You are a gift. Love you son.
