Our Baby Boy is Here!!

 Meet Our Son
Simeon John Warkentin
Born December 17, 2014
12:55am
8lbs
20 inches

Our sweet boy! We are so grateful he's here! 10 days early, just like Jude. Our Simeon...what a miracle and a gift from heaven. It was love at first sight for us. Labor was fast....we're talking I almost had him in the car fast. I labored for a short time in the tub and after 5 pushes or so he was born safely into the hands of our midwife and John-Mark.

Some have asked how we chose the name Simeon. Simeon of the New Testament has always been a favorite character of mine. He's mentioned in only 10 verses of Luke chapter 2 but what is said about him is so beautiful...We desire for our Simeon to emulate the Simeon of the New Testament as a man who is righteous, filled with the Holy Spirit and waits for his Messiah to come.

Luke 2:25-35

25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,
29
“Lord, now you are letting your servant[d] depart in peace,

    according to your word;
30
for my eyes have seen your salvation
31
that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”
33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

Several minutes old

Birgitte Damgaard, the midwife's first assistant.
Birgitte was with us when Ansel was born. She is so fantastic. We love the way she cares for me and has such a way with our babies. She is studying to be a midwife and will be tremendous.  When I asked if she would consider being with us again she said she'd love to...I was hoping and praying for that. She was on call waiting for me. So incredible grateful she was with us for Simeon's birth.

BJ Snell, our fantastic Midwife
BJ delivered all our boys at Beachside Birth Center. I again was hoping and praying she'd be there for our 4th birth. She graciously was on call for me as well. She knows me and how I birth and I feel so  comfortable with her. It was a gift to have both ladies there with me. I was in the best hands.

Mini Van Mega Fun. JM has worn this Minivan t-shirt at every one of our births. Even though it's shrinking and too small for him he insisted! I tease him about it but love that he's holding on to his tradition. I think we'll have it framed.

We had dropped off the kids at my folks on our way to the birth center....The next afternoon we introduced Simeon to everyone.
Big Brother and Little Brother meet for the first time. I think Ansel loves his baby...don't you?

We have 4 children. 4...It's what JM and I prayed for and desired for so long. What a journey it's been for us....loosing babies, not knowing if we'd have another...and now our baby boy is here. It's all so miraculous. We feel our family is more complete. We are so grateful for our children and know they're a gift from God .
 Hair...lots of it

10 days early.....Just the way we like it.
