Educating the kids at home is such a delight for me. It all began in the Fall of 2010 when Gabriella started Pre-K. I didn't realize then how much I would love it. I do remember telling JM that I wasn't interested in homeschooling for the long haul...but a little one day a week Pre-K co-op class sounded great. That turned into "I could home school her for Kindergarten."....which then turned into 1st grade....Almost 6 years later and homeschooling 3 at home, well....God had bigger plans and created in me a love for home education. Not only do I enjoy educating the kids at home, I'm passionate about it. Don't get me wrong, it has it's challenges....especially now that I am schooling the kids 5 days a week without co-op groups, and Simeon is very mobile and needs me, and Ansel is very chatty and needs me!
I feel as though we are in a groove though and most days, it's very enjoyable and oh so rewarding. A bonus...JM spends two morning a week at home to do pre-school with Ansel and babysit Simeon. He works late into the evening those days but it is so helpful to me and allows me to teach the big kids with fewer interruptions. I'm grateful.
Here are some things we've been doing and learning....
With the winter comes a plethora of citrus. JM teaching the boys how to properly cut oranges and juice them. The result was totally delosh.
Carrots for my snack
Planting some beans
It's only been a 6 days!!
In history we have been learning about the explorers. One week we studied about Ferdinand Magellan and his voyage around the world. The kids made globes/maps.
Jude's
Gabriella's...whoops, upside down.

In science we just completed several weeks learning about BATS! They are amazing little creatures. I have a new found respect for these flying little mammals. |
We did a BAT art project at the end of the week. Art projects....there isn't anything they enjoy more.
How cute did they turn out!
Next....Jude at his violin lesson this past month. So proud of our little maestro. He's doing really well. Kid has an ear....I knew he would. He's been humming in tune since he was 9 months old.:)
