Easter and the Confetti EggsTradition

I love Resurrection Sunday. Jesus raising from the dead, conquering death and sin forever...for us. Oh the deep love of God. I follow a blog called Mustard Seeds. The women that writes the blog goes on and on about how Christmas is celebrated for an entire month...sometimes 2 months and Easter often takes a back seat. I agree! Easter is the reason for His coming, his birth. There is so much to celebrate! Our risen Lord!

JM and I desire and have eagerly tried to prepare our children for Resurrection Sunday, focusing on the things of Easter that truly matters. While we still have fun coloring some eggs and hiding them our desire is for our children to know and understand why Jesus came, died and that He is alive, loves us and in heaven preparing a place for us.

One of the things we love doing every year is getting out our Resurrection Eggs and remembering passion week. Thanks Omi for this gift a few years back.
We have a variety of books that we read especially our treasured Jesus Story Book Bible that tells the story so preciously and is easy to understand. These stories bring tears to me, they are written so beautifully.

After our church service and a church breakfast
we headed over to my parents for Easter dinner and a little egg hunt.
Grandpa and Papa hid over 100 eggs...37 of them confetti eggs. Confetti eggs are a family tradition from when my cousins, siblings and I were little. My Grandpa Chavira used to pride himself in making confetti eggs. The tradition lives on and we had so much fun!

GO!

My mom cracking up! So....I decided to have the kids paint our eggs with a non toxic paint we use to paint little wood figures....little did I realize that this paint would create another layer...or thin shell layer if you will.  Oops. They were a little extra hard on the head! My mom is laughing because I think we created some welts on my dad's noggin! (not really, but we hit the egg on his head several times to no avail!)

Finally...poor guy.:)

Kind of had to make a little crack in the egg before smashing them

Mo hasn't been home for an Easter in over 10 years or something crazy like that. I told mom...oh yay, we'll have a delish dessert on Easter this year. Hee Hee.

Ansel's first confetti egg

The kids had a kick attacking Uncle crazy with confetti eggs. He knew he had it coming.
His hair is so incredibly thick and full of product, the confetti just stuck! He probably is still washing it out of his hair.

Everyone say Confetti Eggs!

Clean up time

My sister never disappoints....Vegan Raw Lime"Cheese Cake" with Mango sauce. Yum!
