There was a time in my life...in my 20's, that consisted of long days and nights of traveling, shabby motel rooms, pilot truck stops and doing what I loved...singing. Back in the 90s I was a singer in a band...a punk rock, ska, swing band. There was 8 of us at one time. 2 girls and 6 crazy guys. We were called "Flight 180". Yep. It was the life for a while as well as hard work. The memories and photos that I have are priceless treasure that I am now sharing with my kids.
In the fall of 1999 our band had an opportunity to tour with a band called the Supertones...heard of them? What a fantastic tour that was. They are a wonderful group of guys who became dear friends. They've had a come back in the last couple of years, recorded a new record and have performed a bit here and there. There was a time when they were non stop touring, recording hit record after hit record and living lives on the road. Now, they are all married with children, some are pastors, one is a landscaper...they are still wonderful men who have hearts for Jesus and a desire to see many come to Christ.
Earlier this month I introduced Gabriella and Jude to Supertones music. They loved their music instantly. Showed them a couple of their videos on YouTube which they got a kick out of too. Not only is their music fun but all of their lyrics are Christ focus. That is important especially when Gabriella and Jude will memorize every word to a song and sing it over and over again.
So they asked me..."Mom, do you know the Supertones?" "Well, yes, it's been a while since I've seen them....maybe we could go to one of their concert sometimes." Checked their concert schedule...nothing....then out of no where, they we preforming a free concert in the park...where?? In Fullerton!! So, we had to go! The kid's first concert and only 5 minutes away. What a wonderful reunion. I loved seeing all these friends and their wives and kids! Such a special time. Here are some photos of the past and of the concert. We're getting older but still kids at heart.

Kimmy (band mate) and Me on the Supertone's Tour in 1999
I loved taking pictures of the kids in the audience. I often had my camera on stage but I don't know who took this though?
My brother took this one. I've always loved it.
We made it on a marque! First time for this I think.
At the end of every Supertones show we would perform the song"Celebration"with them and the other 2 bands that were on the tour. One night Kim and I snuck into the guys dressing room while they were performing and got into their Supertones gear. They would wear this at the beginning of their show. What a crack up that was.
"Celebration"
Just this month at Craig Park in Fullerton. 4 of the original band members were there.
Matt, Tony, Chief and Jason
Tony the Tone-man

Tony and me and Jude in 2013.
Such a blessing to see these friends from the past and I'm so glad the kids got to see and meet them. Like I said, these guys are family men, pastors etc and only play a handful of shows a year. What an extra blessing that we got to see them, and so close to where we live.
