Monkee-ing Around With My Boy!

Yes, I am a Monkee nerd. Since I was 13 I've loved the Monkees. This year marks their 50th anniversary and they are still rocking it in their 70s. They recorded a new album and it is stellar. Great writers (Guys from Weezer and Death Cab for Cutie), Great Producer (Fountains of Wayne), great singing ( The one and only Dolenz, Nesmith and Tork ...and sniff sniff...an old remake of a Jones tune)...just an all around wonderful project. Anyways, yes, my husband took me to the album release party at Fingerprints Records in Long Beach (in May...I'm a little behind on posts) and yes...I may have gone home with some Monkees goodies, and won a cool little Monkees tote bag because I answered a Monkees trivia question correctly. I am really geeking out here people.

So obviously they were going to tour this great album.  I found a deal on craigs list for 2 tickets to their show in LA....that night!  This was an especially exciting show because  it was the last show Mike Nesmith would ever perform with the Monkees....and I got to bring a really cute date with me...and no not John-Mark.

Fingerprints Long Beach CA....my smile. So cheeze but so excited for my new record!

50 Years....1966
My Jude. He was amazing for wearing the beloved Monkees hat. It's much cuter on him than me.
A fellow fan wanted to take a picture with him. You might be wondering what the hat is all about...Davy and Micky wore this hat in the end credits of the show....a few years ago at a Monkees concert a sweet fan gave this hat to Gabriella who was admiring it. Too cute.

The Pantages...such a lovely theater

Did you see the bag...Representing Davy Jones.....

The best little date ever. Thanks for Monkee-ing around with me Jude. Love you!
Such a fun night, and JM took the other kids to dinner and to the Griffith Observatory for a night time science field trip! Double win!
