The Last of the 30's.

Turned 39 years old on March 7th. 39 is a nice age...in fact I've embraced my age and the idea of turning older every year. I have adopted the attitude of the centenarian! Why not shoot for that...hey, it's in my blood. Grandpa lived to be 102 and Grandma is alive and kicking at 91. Bring it on!!

So, for as long as we've been married, I've always had the idea and desire to find an old door that would fit perfectly as a head board for our bed. Something vintage...maybe art deco...1940s era..., didn't really know.  These days it's become more and more popular for people to buy doors for their head boards. I'm seeing them lots now....wished I would have jumped on the idea years ago but...better late than never. For my b-day this year, JM's gift to me was to take me to a couple of Salvage places in Pasadena to find our door/headboard. YAY! We did just that and made a day of it. We settled on a door that we both really like and bought some vintage hard wear to go with it. JM is going to strip,  sand, paint and hang the finished product for me. Can't wait. I also can't wait to re-arrange our bedroom. It's time and it's due for a fresh-n-up.

In front of one of the salvage places...there was a Merilyn Monroe type vent in the sidewalk that the kids thought was so fun!

This is NOT the door but it was a contender in the beginning.
After, JM took me and the kids to downtown Pasadena for an early din. Walking through the alley ways.
We ate at Green Earth...first time. Founded it on Yelp. It was decent but we've had better.

Chocolate milk shake, you ask??..No, freshly squeezed apple juice.

Me like Pasadena

More to come on the door front......to be cont....

I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I cannot wait to see pics of your head board once it is finished. Where is that ally you took those pics in? I think that is a perfect local for a family shoot I want to do in a couple of months...
