Last week was our final week of school. Hummm, that went fast. I took a picture or two of Gabriella's last day. Her teacher Mrs. Cardwell presented each girl with a special award and some lovely words for each of them.
I can't explain what it was like for me to hear her teacher say the things she said. Writing this I'm getting a little choked up because...our girl...well,...she's a pretty wonderful kid..yes, I'm her Mama but man.....heart of gold, kind, caring...well, if you know her, you know. That morning I was so thankful to hear her teacher admonish her....to hear that she's kind, loving others and hard working. Loving Jesus and loving others...isn't that what it's all about. Pretty special. Thank you Mrs. Cardwell, for your kind and encouraging words and for loving our girl this year. She will remember you fondly. Don't we all have memories of our Kindergarten teacher..I do. We'll miss you next year.
Our New First Graders!
Remember their first day of Kindergarten? They've grown...in so many ways!
Haaahaha!!
I haven't posted Gabriella's art work in a long time....Thought I would post some of her Kindergarten art.
This wasn't am art project but something sweet she did in Kindergarten.
Her hand...Papa's hand
It was exciting for me to plan the art curriculum this year for her little class. All the girls did so well and I think had a lot of fun..so did Mrs. Cardwell.:)
Based on the "Story of Ping" They were learning how to draw water movement
Cross Hatching Lesson
Fall tree project....blowing paint
Based on the book "Who Owns the Sun" they made Sun Catchers with melted crayons for the center...It catches the sun when hung over a window
Learning about Japan they created Japanese woodblock prints...only they used styrofoam not wood
Gabriella loves water colors...based on the book "A Glorious Flight"
George Seurat and Pointillism...yea for q-tips
Winter Scene with a pop of color. Nice bird girlie!
Studying Degas and Ballerinas
Ahhh Venice...
Ahhh Russia....
Studied Raphael....Madonna and Child
Jelly Fish....based on their reading "Night of the Moon jellies"
Studying Tide Pools...Gabriella wanted me to tell you that this was her favorite art project.
Ok....So JM and I have been doing some art with Gabriella...the other day we were working on faces and proportion. She wanted to draw the characters from Little House on the Prairie.
Here's my Ma/Caroline and Pa/Charles
Here is Gabriella's. She looked at my drawings for reference but I didn't help her at all. She started to cut them up (there were other drawing on the back) and I had to tape them to take a picture of them first.
Papa's work. :)
Ok on a totally other note....our kids have learned the art of dribbling from their Opa...which is now being reinforced by their Papa. Look at em go!! Oh also...Jude is singing a song we sang as a family back in 06 called "Shout Brother Shout". Jude loves the video Opa made and loves singing Papa's part...the way Papa looked singing it. He's hilarious I tell you. Comedian.
