Silhouettes

One of the things I've always loved looking at in my parent's bedroom are 5 silhouettes of my 2 siblings, parents and myself. Have you ever had  your profile cut by a Silhouette artist?  They have an amazing talent of capturing your portrait using scissors of all things. No pencils, just scissors.

A neighbor of mine said her sister-in law made her and her husband silhouettes by taking a photo, and tracing their profile outlines on black paper. "I want to do that with my kids!" I thought. So, here is my silhouette project of Gabriella and Jude. I loved the way it came out!

JM using his Adobe Illustrator skills (cause that is not my gift!) and outlined their profiles for me. JM also added little details like little flippy hairs on Jude's head.
He actually flipped the outline so when I glued it to the black paper the profile was facing the correct way I intended.
Reasonable Ikea frames
After pasting the outline on the black paper and cutting it out, I then pasted and taped the silhouette on colored paper.
And now for the framing. Tada!
I know,  I know, all this work to create these beautiful silhouettes and I stick them in the bathroom! But, our bathroom needed something and so I thought, hey nice, I could make silhouettes for the potty room since I have nothing else to hang in there. It's fresh, clean, and  let's face it, with 2 kids we're in there a lot so thankfully I have something pretty to look at when I'm cleaning sticky hands among other things! I hope to make others...maybe of the whole family some day. How do they look?

I LOVE these!! I have in mind to do the SAME thing, and for our bathroom too! Even the same colors. haha. Greta's bathroom is decorated in brown and green and vintage silhouettes. I think I need to wait for O to get a little bigger though. I love reading your blog - we have so much in common. :)

Very cute and they look beautiful in your bathroom, too. I'll look forward to seeing them next time we come visit. You seem to have so much more energy to do things than I did with 2 small kids. You go girl!
